The successful three year crowd funded environmental project organised by the Friends of Maghull and District (FOMD), would like to express our gratitude and appeal for further help.
Countless Ornamental Rocks:
A huge thank you to Val & Chris not only for donating the huge array of rocks from their garden but for their patience in waiting nearly a month for us to arrange for them to be transported by the brilliant but short staffed Maghull Town Council maintenance team (thank you to Derek Stevens (new MTC Amenities Manager) and his team. They look fantastic now framing the perimeter 50x4m rear border at Woodend. We hope that the final huge rock will be cut in half and re-joined to create a feature behind Rainbow the rhinoceros on Stafford Moreton Way, courtesy of a local stonemason Cllr Ken Hughes.
Three Donated Trees
Although it is really the wrong season to be transplanting trees we received one tree from Eileen (Maghull – who it was a pleasure to meet) and two trees from Alan and Helga in Freshfield. All the trees have been used to replace ones that did not survive following the planting on by Persimmon homes on School Lane. Fingers crossed.
Paving Flags Installed under Two Benches.
Thank you to MTC for arranging for their subcontractor Lemon Landscapes, to install the flags under the two benches at Woodend and one in Hall Lane Park. It really makes a difference to prevent a muddy mess when sitting down in winter.
Can You Help?
(1) Weeding.
The large rear border at Woodend only needs weeding once a year, due to the enormous amounts of wood chipping we have spread, but that time has come! If you can help even for less than an hour we would really value your help by contacting us below.
(2) Adopt a Tree and Water.
We have lots of new trees and plants that are just establishing themselves and often in dry weather they simply need a regular dose of water. So if you can contact us and say which tree you’d be happy to adopt and water, particularly in dry periods, we would love to hear from you.
