After the successful planting of 100 new woodland themed plants (1) and 2500 bulbs (2) from the year-long crowdfunding by our community (3), today the Friends of Maghull and District (FOMD) focused on planting many large mature shrubs (pictured), at Bobby’s Wood/Woodend (junction of Liverpool Road South and Northway).
Rhona, Jan and Carmel (local residents) kindly donated these fantastic plants yesterday. An enormous thank you for so many of these valuable shrubs that will make a significant instant impact in such a large border and elsewhere.
Rhona, has a rich history of community service to Maghull, and was an absolute pleasure to meet, and donated five plants from her garden that are pictured in the large border at Bobby’s wood.
Whilst Jan donated a potted silver birch tree, and expressed an inspiring enthusiasm for her new gardening hobby. We thought that her tree would be best suited to go amongst the thousands of tree whips we planted in Hall Lane Park in March.
Carmel responded magnificently to last year’s appeal with some lovely cared for plants and on this occasion donated an equally loved mature hydrangea, which we thought would make a great stand-alone welcome at the Bobby’s Wood entrance from Liverpool Road South (pictured).
In the meantime, please consider donating shrubs (4) to a newly created border as part of a fast moving redesign/refresh of our first project (2017) in Parkbourn and the source of our latest crowdfunding highlighted in the following link: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/parkbourn
