Tree Project

Our environmental projects have resulted in 15,000 trees being planted in Maghull between 2021/2022.

All aspects of the community have been involved, with planting mainly focused on parks, schools and highways. Apart from improving the local environment and wildlife habitat we hope that these trees can contribute towards climate change action.

We were also honoured to receive a generous commendation from the late Queen’s Green Canopy local representative and delighted to be bestowed with a royal tree from Her Majesty’s Jubilee art installation ‘Tree of Trees’.

Summary:

  • 112 Large Trees: Seven Maghull parks and two schools are sharing 112 large trees following year-long negotiations to successfully secure two outside sources of investment through (DEFRA’s Urban Tree Challenge and the Northern Forest scheme and both organised by Mersey Forest.
  • £40,000 Largest Green Investment. This externally sourced investment of £40,000 represents one of the largest green investments into our parks and provides countless benefits for our community.
  • 27 Street Trees. MTC has funded 10 standard trees on Claremont Avenue (adding to 10 match funded trees from last year), and 7 on Deyes Lane.
  • 27 Large Trees. FOMD has planted nine standard trees on Bobby’s Wood (adding to the nine funded by the Tree Council last year) and supported the planting of nine standard trees near the medical centre.
  • 15,000 Tree Planting Target Surpassed. FOMD have planted 8800 trees in 2021 and 5500 in 2022
