Last week, we appealed¹ to the local community for support for woodland themed plants to populate a huge 50x4m border at Bobby’s Wood/Woodend (at the Junction of Liverpool Road South and Northway) as part of the Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) environmental charity project².
We were approached by Ken Hughes (local stonemason)³ who is working for Ian Hill4 (pictured) (Hills MD: one of the UK’s leading vehicle dismantling and recycling specialists), who allowed Ken (pictured) and myself to use one of their trucks to obtain approximately 50 rockery stones (pictured) belonging to Ian.
We are enormously grateful to both of them for their generosity in helping towards making a positive difference to our local community. Of course, some of the ‘stones’ were too heavy to carry and did need ‘rolling’!
