Your multi award-winning Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) is only a small group but with the support of the community we have ‘together been Making Maghull a Better Place to Live’ in so many ways.

We have been fortunate to be able to raise considerable funds and in-kind support for a variety of valued projects in Maghull and have not taken a penny for our running and project setting up costs, but this was becoming quite a struggle.

Consequently, the recently cancelled Maghull Fest had represented a rare opportunity for our first stall and raffle to raise much-needed funds, with incredible prizes donated by local businesses. We have been overwhelmed not only by online and face-to-face ticket purchases made by our kind local community but also their precious appreciation of our community achievements and benefits.

Asa and lifelong friend Ken (pictured) generously presented FOMD with a £100 donation (on top of a £250 donation in May) at their fortnightly charity evening at the Cabin Coffee & Wine Bar on Thursday (24.8.23), bringing our three-week fund raising tantalisingly close (£993.60) to the incredible milestone of £1000!  Asa & Ken have now donated over £2000 to local groups from their evenings of music and poetry and are on a heartwarming mission to donate £10,000 to local good causes in Maghull and the surrounding areas, thus altruistically forsaking their Thursday night fees.

The informal evenings are friendly, welcoming, humorous with a combination of poetry readings (courtesy of Ken) and wonderful musical performances by Asa who has an incredible range of singing genres and an unbelievable vocal range alongside his acoustic guitar playing. Asa is not only a talented famous musician, but also a playwright, children’s book author, actor, radio presenter, celebrant and much much more. More Info at: https://www.facebook.com/asa.murphy.18 I think I can speak for most people who have met Asa, that you will always feel better for the creativity and warmth of his company. He really is a jewel in our community.

With deep appreciation,

Friends of Maghull & District CIC.
