The Friends of Maghull & District’s (FOMD) first of many community environmental transformations started at Parkbourn in Maghull in 2018, which we recently highlighted on Google maps receiving over 1000 hits over two months. The area was transformed from an antisocial grot spot to a much-visited oasis, but it does need some overdue weeding.

Many thanks to Ros and Frank who started last week (17.7.24) at short notice undertaking the following:

  • brush cut a corridor behind the railway fence to reduce encroaching weeds and brambles and removed an assortment of fly tipping and transported to the recycling centre.
  • Weeded the woodchip path.
  • Started weeding the entrenched ground elder from the outer border, resulting in two agricultural bags of vegetation, which was transported to the recycling centre.

The outer border is starting to look a little more clearer, with its four layers including (1) the rear dogwood hedge developing to cover the stark railings, (2) in front there is a row of 72 white hydrangea cuttings blossoming, and (3) in front of this there is a row of assorted plants, whilst the (4) daffodils and bluebells that fringe the path have now finished blossoming.

Thank you to all the regular dog walkers who were very complimentary about the improved attractiveness we had made in such a short time.

Many Thanks,

FOMD
