This bug hotel is the latest edition to the ecology corner of Bobby’s Wood/Woodend environmental project organised by the Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD).

One of the new timeshare residents commented, “I love both the Parkbourn & Bumbles hotels; however this one reminds me of Center Park because it is situated in woodland with many new attractions to pollinate along the 50x4m newly created community border populated by 500 donated plants, 2500 bulbs alongside the 230m Cotswold path and even has a family of reindeer. I understand that the hotel will be surrounded by wildflowers later in the year which will be a real treat for all the residents”.

FOMD would like to thank the following people for contributing towards the bug hotel: • Aldi & Ken (local resident) for their spare pallets and Ken for transporting them.

• Ken and a Bumbles Nursery Parent for the bricks and roof felt.

• The new Aldi for the rolls of turf for the roof and the huge pieces of slate rocks that will make a rockery sign for the eco-hotel.

• The neighbouring Bumbles Children’s Nursery for supplying and bundling the twigs. • The local 3rd Sefton East Scout group for the drilled logs

• An extra thank you to Steve (local resident and talented hobby Carpenter) who made the beautiful wooden roof.

• Everyone who have provided fantastic feedback.

The ‘Bumbles Bug Hotel’ at Bobby’s Wood will make a significant difference to the ecology of the site alongside other eco/educational initiatives and has become a lovely evolving destination for the local community.

The background to this remnant of 2×5 mile mediaeval wood (recorded in the Doomsday book of 1086) and the three-year environmental project to enhance it, is captured in the following link: www.spacehive.com/woodend

Can you Help? We still need to populate the bug hotel with any suggestions you can find in this link: https://happydiyhome.com/how-to-build-a-bug-hotel/ then contact us at admin@fomd.co.uk or simply put them in yourself.

Many thanks,

FOMD
