On Saturday (20.7.24), the Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) volunteers continued with the green restoration work at Rowlands Dell.
Thank You to the amazing volunteers for undertaking the following work made more challenging by the humidity:
- North Slope: the whole area was cut with a lawnmower following regrowth to enable continued access to the underlying polluting debris and litter, through raking.
- 3 bin bags of rubbish were transported to the tip.
- More Rubble debris was transported to the tip in two carloads,
- More Rubble debris was transported to the tip in two carloads whist the sandstone rocks were recycled for an on-site rockery.
- Regrowth of tenacious damaging ground Ivy was removed.
- An extra thank you to Colin for all the digitalis donations.
Pictured: A huge thank you to Diane & Rob, Christina, Diane (H), Joan, Carl and not pictured Colin.
Overall, our one-hour sessions over the last 38 consecutive weeks have resulted in collecting 237 bin bags of litter, a huge and shameful array of polluting debris and tons of tree and wall damaging Ivy, with multiple trips to the recycling centre.
We have received some wonderful feedback and are clearly seeing the difference every time we are there.
A huge thank you once again for your generous support of our group, you really are amazing and making such a massive difference to our community at so many levels. We would also like to take the opportunity to thank all the local businesses who contributed prizes for our annual month-long raffle which raised £790 for our essential running costs and invaluable project start-up costs.
Looking forward to seeing you.
