The long-awaited opening of the Sainsbury’s local store will happen tomorrow. The store will open at 0700 hours for normal business with an official ribbon cutting ceremony at 0900 hours.

The Maghull Square flagship unit has been vacant since 21.8.19 when B&M decided to leave. B&M had originally taken over the unit from Woolworths which went into administration in 2008. During the vacant years the previous property managers LCP and now Evolve, had unsuccessfully marketed the unit to be a micro store for small businesses but were unable to attract sufficient interest. Peacocks were very close to moving in, but had to back out at short notice due to financial challenges during the pandemic.

In light of the soaring population in Maghull, most residents will welcome the arrival of a nationally respected shopping alternative. Whilst many businesses in the square will view this opening as a challenge to their business with many others expressing optimism that it will increase footfall generally.

PS Don’t forget that Maghull’s first Artisan Market will take place on Sunday the 9th April, followed by further dates throughout the year on every second Sunday of the month until November.
