The annual Maghull Town Council (MTC) festive shop window competition was announced and awarded today, with the top three receiving a framed certificate and celebratory bottle.
Based on our criteria of creativity, originality and festive cheer:
First place went to the Flower Guy with an assorted display and a centrepiece wicker ‘reindeer’ and sleigh created by Danielle (pictured) and Gary (Owner), at their Meadows shop on Liverpool Road South.
Second place went to their neighbour Balance Whole Foods with their beautiful painted window depicting ‘reindeer’ in a snow-covered woodland and created by Julie who is a friend of the shop owners Kate (pictured) and Colette.
Third place went to the Smarter Pets shop window, at the Woodend shops on Liverpool Road South, with their jolly festive colourfully painted picture, aptly depicting three carol singing dogs. The picture was commissioned by Nicky (pictured owner) and again created by Julie, a local talented artist.
The judging was undertaken on the 14.12.22 by Cllr Josh Burns (Mayor of Maghull), and Cllr Dr Frank Sharp (Friends of Maghull & District Director) and organised with his usual aplomb by Phil Dillon (MTC Community Services Manager) and awards presented today (22.12.22)
On behalf of MTC and our local community we would like to convey our huge gratitude not only to the brilliant winners but to all the other cheerful festive looking local businesses who have creatively and inspiringly invested so much time and expense to give our community so much Christmas magic which lifts everyone’s spirits at this special yet challenging time.

In addition, a special thanks to Phil (organiser), the MTC team and donors (Morrisons and Home and Bargain for discounted produce) for facilitating the annual creation and delivery of 108 Christmas hampers to some of Maghull’s most vulnerable and isolated residents.
Wishing you all every happiness over Christmas and the New Year.
