As part of the grant funded Rowlands Dell Project partnership with the NHS and the Friends of Maghull & District we are delighted to announce the opening of the NHS Sunken Garden. It is situated within the embankment of the main path leading to the medical centre from Westway.
It is a fantastic health and wellness feature, for staff, patients and the wider community to simply meet, chill or share their meal breaks in. The garden was designed by Ground Works, created by PR Landscapes, funded from a health and wellness grant, within the collective Rowlands Dell Project (Maghull’s largest green investment The Dell Project – Friends of Maghull and District CIC ). Richard from the landscapers asked to convey a huge thank you to the whole community for their positive comments and friendliness throughout their work and in fact said it was one of the friendliest places they have worked.
The sunken garden comprises of block paving, raised populated flower beds, picnic table and bin, accessible with a disability ramp and a staircase and landscaped with the surroundings grass seeded and planted with bulbs.
Maghull’s Christmas Tree.
Neighbouring the sunken garden, Maghull Town Council in collaboration with the Sefton Council landowners, are funding a permanent plinth, which includes an electrical supply from the neighbouring lamppost, for a recently purchased 20-foot artificial Christmas tree, that will last for many years. The plinth is nearly complete, with the tree being installed and decorated over the next two weeks, and the celebratory switch on organise for Saturday 30.11.24 at 18:00 hours, by Cllr Ken Hughes (Mayor of Maghull). The height of the tree will be enhanced further by the elevation of the land and will provide a safe, prominent display this Christmas and beyond.

Please Register ASAP to Help.
FOMD is only a small group, and our success has been achieved by bringing the community together. Consequently, we need everyone to register their interest for a massive tree planting program later in the year by sending your contact details to admin@fomd.co.uk so we can get in touch with drop in planting dates between December and March. Please help our community to continue making a difference to our environment and do our bit for climate change.
All the best,
FOMD
Together Making Maghull a better place to live.
