Bernice Turner (Morrisons Maghull Community Champion) earlier this year kindly nominated the Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) and our partners The Conservation Volunteers (TCV) to develop a health and wellness water feature within our NHS Rowlands Dell green restoration project situated next to the Maghull Medical Centre.
Each of the 497 national stores were able to nominate a good environmental cause, which following three knockout rounds were reduced to 125 winning nominees, to celebrate Morrisons 125th Anniversary.
We are immensely grateful to Bernice, her Morrisons team and all our incredible partners that are pictured.
The Rowlands Dell project has been three years in planning in which stage I has involved the volunteers working for 46 consecutive weekly sessions to remove astounding 266 bin bags of rubbish and 25 tons of debris. Currently, the Dell is temporarily closed for two months to undertake stage 2 involving hard landscaping to provide an accessible path, water feature, sunken garden, viewing and picnic area. This will be followed by the final stage III which will repopulate Rowlands Dell with a huge array of woodland trees and shrubs, to provide a legacy haven for humans and wildlife.
Huge thanks once again,
