As part of the Friends of Maghull and District (FOMD) ‘One Hour for Maghull’ initiative, for the second time the brilliant cadets from ATC Squadron (2348, based next to Hudson Primary School Moorhey Road) came en masse last Sunday (19.2.22). To help undertake some crucial winter trees maintenance work,  on some of the 15,000 trees that we have planted in Maghull. We are incredibly indebted to the leader Ian Taylor and his colleagues and cadets for their generosity for our environment but even more outstandingly was how keen friendly and polite they are, which is something our community should be so proud of.

We would also like to thank fellow members and volunteers: Diane, John, and Sally for their friendly support yet again.

In addition, last Saturday (18.2.23) we undertook the spreading of 2 t of donated wood chippings at Pimbley Field (Bridge Road) to spread around the young trees to provide an attractive mulch to suppress weeds and hydrate the trees. We would like to thank Harry, Chris, Paul Richards (local tree surgeons) for the donated wood chippings, and Ken for his short notice support in helping to repair the trees and spread the wood chippings.

Finally, thank you to FOMD for litter picking Park Lane up to the service station yesterday. We had no official ‘One Hour for Maghull Events’ this week, as most of our focus has been on: installing and organising the bottle top art unveiling On Stafford Moreton Way, attending the MTC Civic Awards, attending the MTC Advice Centre Opening, supporting the MTC editorial team quarterly community magazine, and preparing for a new community art installation.

However, we would be delighted if you can keep a regular check on our events page and offer your invaluable support whenever you can. https://www.fomd.co.uk/events/
