Huge thanks to Paul and Harry Richards for providing tons more, free woodchip this month for the Friends of Maghull and District’s (FOMD) tree/hedge planting initiative at Hudson Primary School. The woodchip provides an attractive, weed suppressant hydrating mulch around the newly planted hedge whips along the whole front of the school.
Since we planted the 2000 wildlife friendly hedge whips, they have healthily tripled in size and will not only provide a beautiful natural feature but provide a huge boost to the local biodiverse under resourced green infrastructure and provide a tranquil low stimulus entrance area for the needs of some of the children.
We are enormously grateful to Paul and Harry who over the years must have provided in total, enough woodchip, to match the height of a house, for various community projects.
In addition, we would like to thank Dave (a school: neighbour, friend and grandparent) for his generous and friendly spontaneously help he gave me on one of the two days (14/15.9.23) to move the woodchip in the absence of being able to organise any support due to the short notice weather window opportunity.
