Why Is It Important & Why Should you Care?

Two years ago the amazing Maghull in Bloom team had the vision to improve the appearance of Bobby’s Wood/Woodend and with the help of local schoolchildren and Chelsea multiple gold medal winner/local horticulturist Don Billington and tractor – they planted hundreds of daffodil bulbs on the perimeter of the site, which are pictured here last month.

We are hoping to follow their inspiration through our crowd funding initiative to create a natural pathway to the old and new borders, that we hope to plant with further bulbs, trees, shrubs and wildflowers in due course, with community support.

One of the important drivers to this initiative is to maintain its beautiful natural character to enable it to be valued, safe, accessible and supported more broadly by the local community. Maghull Town Council took on the lease from Sefton Council to specifically ensure that its character was maintained and enhanced. To prevent any possibility of this treasured area being developed for commercial interests, as so many other places have been in Maghull but particularly in this sought after area and evidenced locally in the near future. Consequently, we would really value your support to uphold these ecological principles at www.spacehive.com/woodend
