MiB donated and transplanted their old surplus fruit bushes from the town hall path border, to plug the 18 gaps that we have left to be integrated into FOMD’s new wildlife friendly hedge at the Dell (opposite the Hare and Hounds Pub).

On Thursday (22.2.24) the MiB volunteers were fantastic, spending several hours in the torrential rain digging out the plants, backfilling the holes, transporting them and planting them in the gaps we had left for them.

A few days earlier (17.2.24), FOMD planted the 42m wildlife friendly hedge using 250 Mersey Forest hedge whips, comprising of wild Cherry, Rowan, Hazel, Crabapple, Hawthorn, Beach, with canes, spirals and continued the unbelievable debris removal. What a difference it will make in the future for wildlife habitat and food, whilst masking the less than natural neighbouring fence.

A huge thank you to both sets of volunteers for their wonderful community support.

Best Wishes,

FOMD
