Elaine who is a local resident and wife of Ian (equally inspiring Scout leader, Friends of Maghull & District director), inspiringly decided to improve her local environment on Park Lane by creating and managing part of an unkempt grass verge by using free seeds and cuttings from her own garden to create a stunning flower bed oasis. Her labour of love is an uplifting joy to pass by each day, and we would like to convey our gratitude from the local community.

Elaine’s beautiful work has been the icing on the cake to work undertaken by the Friends of Maghull & District alongside the local community to transform what was considered by the Liverpool Echo as one of the worst roads in Merseyside! We successfully had the flooded and pothole riddled road brilliantly reconfigured and resurfaced by Sefton Council and successfully organised the verge to be grassed and planted with over 600 hedge whips and 29 blossoming standard trees which has contributed to the 16,000 we have planted and maintained throughout Maghull. There have been too many other ongoing transformative achievements to mention but the outcomes have been stunning and inspiring in equal measure.

Huge thanks to Elaine and our local community,
