FOMD CIC has successfully raised £6440 in April, to pay for all the digital equipment and communication services in Maghull’s innovative resource Advice Centre in the heart of our town. BT temporarily closed Leighton Avenue on the 23.6.23 to enable the full digital connection to be made to the Advice Centre to maximise the communication equipment recently purchased.

As you may know, Maghull Town Council has worked wonders between November and the 23 February 2023 to create, open and run an already hugely successful Advice Centre that is crucial in the current worrying economic climate. In addition, it provides a potential focus for our community to come together with it being situated in a building behind Costa Coffee, at the town centre.

One, amongst many important ingredients to this centre is the provision of digital equipment and services. Consequently, Phil Dillon (MTC Community Service Manager) brilliantly supported FOMD in the application process, to successfully apply for a £6440 grant from: UK Shared Prosperity Fund, Digital Connectivity in Community Facilities Grants Programme – Liverpool City Region.

The money has been invaluable to the smooth running and communication of the centre enabling the following equipment and services to be obtained: multiple laptops, desktop, monitor, software and licences, Telecom & Internet installations and subscriptions, IT headphones chairs, etc.

The successful grant application, follows on from a £3110 grant awarded to FOMD from Sefton CVS, again invaluably supported by Phil Dillon, that enabled the Monday afternoon Cosy Club (warm space) to function at such a high standard, for the most vulnerable in our community, and was considered one of the best in the whole of Sefton during winter and will be completing at the end of July.

The Advice Centre was inspired by MTC, and brought to fruition at breakneck speed by the tirelessly hard-working council officers, councillors, partner organisations and a large enthusiastic contingent of volunteers in response to the cost of living crisis.

Our community is incredibly indebted to everyone involved, most of whom are pictured at the official opening.

Lots more information will be made available soon by the town council organisers, about all the available resources, but in the meantime the staff will make you feel more than welcome and do their very best to support or signpost you,  should you just wish to pop in.

This facility is already an incredible accessible asset and focal point for a huge array of needs within our community particularly in such challenging times, with the current council, partner organisations and volunteers highly motivated to maintain and improve this wonderful local opportunity for everyone.

On behalf of our community would like to convey a huge thank you to everyone involved who have made the town centre – Advice Hub and town hall – Cosy Club such a wonderful success. The support and happiness it has created has been absolutely precious to everyone.

All the best,

FOMD
