After the Sad Goodbye to the Champion Newspaper last year Maghull Town Council responded by publishing the first free edition of its own quarterly A5 magazine, in December, entitled ‘Maghull Press’, which was incredibly well received. Consequently, we are delighted to announce that the 2nd edition is now available online and will also be dispatched to 9000 homes in Maghull over the next two weeks. https://www.paperturn-view.com/?pid=MzE311208
Support.
The magazine is paid for with a small sprinkling of adverts. Consequently, we would welcome advertising interest from the community not only to promote a business or event but to help pay for the publishing and delivery costs of your local magazine. If you would like further information, please contact Maghull Town Council on (0151) 526 3705. If you haven’t seen the first edition please follow this link: https://maghull-tc.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/Maghull-Press-Edition-1-MTCwebsite.pdf
Background.
Many community organisations, residents, businesses lamented the sad loss of the Champion newspaper in August after 28 years, particularly because a community cannot be a community without communication. The Champion was delivered free to 160,000 homes in Sefton and West Lancs, each week, and championed and inspired good causes throughout.
Since then a handful of us at Maghull Town Council have sought to emulate good practice elsewhere, to draft a quarterly A5 36 page magazine, which has been paid for with adverts and bulging with Maghull community stories. Everyone in the small team played their part and we are enormously grateful to Stefanie Lawrence (MTC Finance & Admin Officer) who within her part-time role has achieved a miracle by formatted it and handling the advert payments.
We hope the magazine will stimulate interest, be informative and inclusive, whilst keeping everyone connected in challenging times.
