The Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) will be delighted to welcome any volunteers to our next weekly one-hour tidy up of Maghull, which is our newest and biggest environmental project yet, entitled the NHS Wellness Dell.

We will meet for one hour at 10 o’clock next Saturday (2.12.23) in the wooded area across the road from the Hare & Hounds Pub on Liverpool Rd North, Maghull.

On this occasion we are continuing to remove the ivy which is damaging the trees and walls, and litter picking from the ivy.

Consequently, please bring garden gloves, litter picker, secateurs, loppers, tree saw, axe, and sheers. Wrap up, as it could be a wet one! Check our website’s events page for any changes or further information at www.fomd.co.uk

In the last seven one-hour sessions remarkably we have now collected 72 bags of litter, a huge array of debris and 12 (even more not bagged!) agricultural bags of tree and wall damaging Ivy, receiving some wonderful feedback and clearly seeing the difference every time we are there, particularly on the wall on this occasion.

Huge thanks to Kansas, little Harry, Jordan, Diane, Ken (Mayor of Maghull), Dee, Joan, (Main Picture front to back), and not pictured (camara shy!) Christine (B), Rebecca, Frank – for removing ivy from several more tree trunks, litter picking, removing brick debris, brushed the path to remove dangerously slippy leaves, resulting in two agricultural bags tenacious damaging Ivy. However, the most remarkably job was undertaken by removing a huge amount of Ivy from the perimeter wall, making the pavement accessible for everyone and importantly preventing further wall repairs, although Ken has kindly agreed to re-point many areas of damage that has been revealed.

Best Wishes,

FOMD
