Dowhigh Construction (1) who were subcontracted to Sefton Highways to transform Park Lane, with a new road surface and drainage, have to our amazement donated £500 to the Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) October crowdfunding target, to fund woodland themed plants for a huge new border (50x4m) at Bobby’s Wood at Woodend (junction of Liverpool Road South and Northway).
We would also like to thank:
1) Josie (Liverpool Road South) for donating to laurels and a mature hawthorn.
2) Anonymous, for a 5 foot fir tree and a 5 foot conifer.
3) Kris (Deyes High school site manager) who was emptying four trees from the planters outside the school, to fill with border plants in time for the school opening day. Sadly Chris discovered that they were in fact dead but it was still lovely that the school thought of our charity, following a referral from Maghull in Bloom.
What Next?
Following last year’s magnificent response from the community in donating over 200 woodland themed shrubs, we are hoping to open the appeal again in the dormant wet period starting October 2021 to March 2022. We are also hoping to conclude our yearlong crowdfunding in late October to raise several thousand pounds to purchase further plants to populate this massive border and provide all year-round interest for the community.
You can still donate at: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/woodend all with cash at Morrisons, Dover Road: Post Office and Blue Star Takeaway.
