On Friday (11.10.24) we were privileged to give Christine Leung a tour around some of our FOMD projects to obtain some valuable advice regarding our wildflower zones within our projects, as they have been dipping below our expectations over the last year or two. Consequently, we hope with the right advice we can maximise our time and resources to create a beautiful  outcome next year.

Christine is local and a national expert on wildflowers in community spaces. I contacted her a few weeks ago after I saw her on Gardeners World winning a gold medal at Tatton Park. Christine was enormously friendly and knowledgeable and kindly spent two hours on Friday visiting our diverse wildflower areas at: the Parkbourn Project, the Stafford Moreton Way Project, Rowlands Dell Project, and the Woodend Project. She took lots of notes and photographs and is hoping to feedback some ideas in due course.

Christine Leung’s Background.

In 2012, Christine Leung established Lotus Brook, a horticultural consultancy, and today she works strategically to consult, advise, and transform the public realm to enhance nature, improve biodiversity, and counter the effects of climate change.

Over the past seven years, Christine has played a role in creating numerous community gardens, delivering 10 urban meadows, improving high street areas, and mobilising 140 households to engage in front yard gardening and community composting. Other projects include woodland development and community alleyways, delivered in collaboration with landowners, social landlords, policymakers, universities, local authorities, and Public Health.
