Tree Planting Preparation in Maghull Centre: Can you help?
20 November @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am
| FreeThe Friends of Maghull & District next one hour session (in which everyone is welcome without any commitment), will be meeting at our Rowlands Dell Project (adjacent to the Hare & Hounds Pub), to rake the final middle slope area of ground to remove litter, debris, dominant Ivy in preparation for future tree planting, meeting at 09:30 hours on Wednesday 20.11.24. Alternatively, if you are a business we need some help reducing the perimeter Ivy hedge.
Equipment: You will need garden gloves and sturdy boots, sturdy rake, loppers, secateurs or for the Ivy hedge cutter.
Thank you to: Jill, Ros, Joan, Graeme (pictured), Colin and Frank, who last week (14.11.24) raked the left-hand side wildflower area and weeded the flower bed behind, and made a start on the right-hand side, removing two agricultural bags of vegetation on our Stafford Moreton Way Project. In addition, we would like to thank the subcontractors tree surgeon Jay (Limb from Limb Tree Surgeons) for returning (14.11.24) to complete the removal of the final dangerous branches in the Dell, in which the logs have been used as an attractive path retainer. Frank returned to construct two of the final four gabion baskets for seating, by lacing them with wire, digging the baskets in and filling them neatly with donated rocks. Just waiting for plastic planking to finish the seats. A donated water butt has also been installed this week ready for future planting.
