When we started this amazing community funded project, which included creating a 230 m accessible Cotswolds style path, we could not believe that Google maps had captured it from space, almost matching the great Wall of China! However, when we finished our session last week we were joined by someone from the Ordnance Survey who with his tripod camera was recording everything to be uploaded onto the OS maps! So, we are officially on the map!

In the meantime, your Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) have another one-hour session, that you can simply drop into without any commitment, to help make a positive difference to yourself and the local environment.

On Friday (31.5.24) at 13.00 hrs (*please check our website Events section for any changes, more info and future events, at www.fomd.co.uk). Any time you can spare will be fantastic. We will be meeting at our Woodend Community Woodland Project (Bobby’s Wood) at the junction of Liverpool Road South and Northway, next to Bumble’s Children’s Nursery (L31 7BG).

Activity. This midweek opportunity will be focusing on weeding in Maghull’s most beautiful and largest community Woodland themed border that we created three years ago with your help involving 500 plant donations from the local community.

Equipment needed: All you will need to bring are garden gloves and either a large or small garden fork or hoe.

Thank You for Your Kind Support in our previous mid-week session on Tuesday (21.5.24) in which we achieved the following:

  • Amazingly removed two agricultural bags of weeds.
  • We were also approached by the neighbouring Bumble’s Nursery who requested and we supplied several bags of clean plastic bottle tops from the community Rainbow the Rhinoceros, for a children’s mosaic creation, that we are looking forward to seeing soon.

With many thanks to Colin & Frank

Update. We hope you can help; it will really make a big difference. However, even if you cannot help, come and have a look, you will be amazed at the natural beauty and tranquillity that has been created on your doorstep. The stunning blossom from Maghull’s best display of daffodils, tulips, bluebells and tree blossom, is now giving way to the beautiful colours and textures of the biggest donated community border in Maghull. The weed removal is defining the beauty of the shrubs even more.

Many Thanks,

FOMD
