This Wednesday at 11.00 hrs our one hour initiative is focusing on further spreading of wood chippings around our new and healthy looking wildlife friendly hedge at the front of Hudson Primary School.

Rationale: The hedge was planted not only to improve the appearance of the school and the local community and to enhance biodiversity but to provide screening to reduce distractions and enhance tranquillity for some of the children with special needs when they are being dropped off and picked up in the newly installed car park.

Task: A recently diseased and dangerous tree has been felled and the subsequent wood chippings are being recycled to provide an attractive weed suppressant and mulch to support hydration in dry weather. Consequently, we are simply wheelbarrowing the wood chippings a short distance to spread them around the small tree hedging and tidying some of the trees along the way.

We would value the attendance of as many volunteers as possible, with gardening gloves and wheelbarrows (as we only have three so far).

Many thanks for helping us make Maghull a better place to live.

Best Wishes,

FOMD.
