A patio, picnic table and two thrones have been installed at the Friends of Maghull and District’s (FOMD) crowdfund Woodend Community Woodland Project as part of the finishing touches to the three year project, which is situated at Bobby’s Wood (junction of Liverpool Road South and Northway)
The children and staff at the neighbouring Bumbles Nursery have excitedly started a series of fancy dress Coronation parties to celebrate, whilst other community groups have also expressed an interest.
Patio: made partly from recycled block paving that were left over and donated by June Burns.
Picnic table: made from recycled plastic to cut down future maintenance.
Story telling thrones: made from recycled wood eg pallets and given a couple of extra coats of wood preserver.
Installed (26/28.4.23) over three days with a kind community discount by Nuttall Landscape’s Design & Construction.
With huge support from Sefton and Maghull Council’s and a further £200 donation from Sefton CVS Coronation Fund.
Originally, the table was going to be a medieval themed table to celebrate the areas historic past. Woodend is a remnant of what was a 2×5 mile wood recorded in the Doomsday Book of 1086 belonging to a Saxon called Uctred, but we have now focussed on a coronation theme, which will be great fun for all the children (and adult children!) who have contributed to the improvement here over the last three years.

Please Help:
Donations: Our little group has punched above its weight undertaking a myriad of transformative projects over the last four years, but we have a pitiful amount of money for our running costs and would be enormously grateful for any contributions on our new website.
Volunteers would also be welcomed on our one hour events page as we have nearly 30 members but only five people are often available at any one time. If you can’t help please spread the word, in our ever increasing population there must be a few more people who could spare 1 hour occasionally.
All the very best,
FOMD
