A new smaller Christmas tree was planted on Saturday with an irrigation pipe and neighbours on board to ensure watering during drought periods,
Sadly, the new tree replaces our large Nordmann (Christmas tree) pride and joy that we planted on Stafford Moreton Way in December 2019, which suffered badly with the drought in April/May 2020, and in 2021 succumbed to a disease in its weakened state. However, Dave, not for the first time has come to the rescue by supplying a smaller healthier tree for free from his Christmas tree stock, along with an irrigation pipe, for which we are really grateful. Apparently, smaller Xmas trees find it easier to establish themselves. This was part of the Friends of Maghull & District 2019/2022 project introduced in a video at www.spacehive.com/stafford-moreton
Previously Dave helped in April 2020 when we received 4000 trees to ‘heal in’ when the ground was rock hard during the drought, and he used his excavator to solve problem. https://www.facebook.com/…/154530…/posts/636772660384124
