Christine and I attended our Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) organised event at Hudson primary school this morning (30.8.23) and were joined by staff, families and children. It was a rare sunny day which was enhanced by everyone’s good company. In what seemed no time at all, we somehow demolished a mountain of wood chippings that had stood in the same spot where the group picture was taken.
Rationale: The wild life friendly hedge was planted not only to improve the appearance of the school and the local community and to enhance biodiversity but to provide screening to reduce distractions and enhance tranquillity for some of the children with special needs when they are being dropped off and picked up in the newly installed car park.
Task: A recently diseased and dangerous tree has been felled and the subsequent wood chippings were recycled to provide an attractive weed suppressant mulch to support hydration in dry weather. Consequently, we wheelbarrowed the wood chippings a short distance to spread them around the small tree hedging and tidied some of the trees along the way.
Huge thanks to all those pictured who attended at such short notice: Nikki (Head Teacher), Christine, Dave, Kian, Tom, Bobby and others.
Many thanks for helping us make Maghull a better place to live.
Best Wishes,
FOMD.
