It has been a surprisingly quiet month, involving a repair to the path and some wonderful donations from local residents. Liam and Michelle (Southport Road) donated 16 ornamental sandstone rocks and three substantial rhododendrons which are now helping to define the rear border. Andy and Kim (Hathaway) also donated a rhododendron and a beautiful 5 foot weeping cherry blossom, which although was not perfect to transplant at this time of the year has been planted in the rear border with lots of water and compost TLC.
Our October crowdfunding target to populate the rear borders with further woodland themed planting and bulbs is creeping closer, consequently we are highlighting this on a daily basis currently. We expressed our gratitude to Nicky Foo at ‘The Chippy’ for the 19 month collection which raised £19 in very difficult and challenging circumstances. An even more precious commodity was their wonderful positivity surrounding the collection which was really encouraging.
Our latest cash collection from Morrisons, Dover Road Post Office and The Blue Star Takeaway raised £47 over the last couple of months which we used straightaway to capitalise on a LIDL offer of five rhododendrons,12 Heathers and compost, to be planted in October.
Hopefully in September/October we should receive some good news regarding our crowdfunding that will enable us to plan some community planting events.
Many thanks and best wishes to one and all,
FOMD
