The award-winning Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) is only a small group that in recent years has been punching above its weight to ‘Make Maghull a Better Place to Live’ in so many ways. We have been fortunate to be able to raise considerable funds for a variety of fantastic projects in Maghull and have not taken a penny for our running and project setting up costs, but this was becoming quite a struggle.

Consequently, we were absolutely overjoyed to receive an incredibly precious and generous £250 donation from Asa and his lifelong friend Ken.

Asa presented the donation at his fortnightly charity evening at the Cabin Coffee & Wine Bar on Thursday (11.5.23). They have now donated £1000 to local charities and foundations from their evenings of music and poetry and have decided to continue until they reach their goal of £10,000 which will stay in Maghull and the surrounding areas, with 100% of the money raised being donated to deserving causes.

The informal evening was friendly, welcoming, humorous with a combination of poetry readings (courtesy of Ken and Jack) and wonderful musical performances by Asa who has an incredible range of singing genres and an unbelievable vocal range alongside his acoustic guitar playing. Asa is not only a talented musician, but also a playwright, children’s book author, actor, radio presenter, celebrant and much much more. More Info at: https://www.facebook.com/asa.murphy.18

FOMD & Terry (Cabin Manager), on behalf of our grateful community, purchased and presented a beautiful bouquet pot of flowers as a small token to Asa for sharing so much happiness and kindness.

It was a real pleasure to meet you and thank you once again for your precious donation.
