If you have ever met Rev David Hamlett you will know that he is a lovely down-to-earth, cheerful, good-humoured person who has worked tirelessly for our community, well beyond his retirement. He should have retired when he turned 70 but was persuaded to stay on longer.
Over the last three years, he has worked as part of a small team across the following churches: St Andrews (Damfield Lane, Maghull), St Thomas’s (Melling), St James’s (Green Park Estate, Maghull). He has been involved in huge array of charity work which most recently has involved food banks, dementia initiatives and from a personal perspective he will be hugely missed as a founder member of our Friends of Maghull & District charity.
I am sure Dave is now looking forward to more quality time with his family, and an occasional sip of wine, and his other family ….. St Helens Rugby club!
I hope you will join me in wishing Dave our sincerest thanks and continued happiness in his new chapter of adventures. Reverend Dave’s last service is at 11 o’clock on Sunday at St Andrews Church, with everyone welcome to give him the best send off.
