Woodend: Our Spot.
This statement I believe to be true,
all human beings love a glorious view.
Underneath an ever-changing sky,
some artists capture it others try,
Nature’s main colours are blue and green,
so many shades make up a scene.
They literally take your breath away,
each Vista changes every day.
It really is a perk,
to see your God’s handiwork
Now we’ve got a spot in Maghull,
that is anything but dull.
So, if you feel a little low,
we have a magical place to go.
On the map it may be a dot,
but this oasis is our spot.
We’re lucky now to have this place,
so everyone’s welcome to enjoy this space.
If you’re a man, woman, girl or boy,
This part of Maghull is for us all to enjoy.
Little Ken
The unveiling of a beautiful art installation to both highlight (1) the four-year transformation of a green space and (2) multiple acts of Community Kindness, organised by the Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) resulted in the lovely poem below.
Talented local poet Ken Harrison (Little Ken) who is a lifelong friend of local legend Asa Murphy, kindly wrote and read his poem at the new unveiling of ‘CK’ (Community Kindness) art installation, in November.
CK is a refurbished (by local schoolchildren) lambanana which is surrounded by a rockery with multiple plaques inserted highlighting Maghull’s acts of community kindness. The plaques will be refreshed with new acts of kindness at regular intervals and will be available in perpetuity on our website in the near future, courtesy of the local Abbey Tech Computers.
Ken and Asa are pictured together, whilst another picture shows one of the plaques paying tribute to their incredible acts of charitable community kindness.
Many thanks Ken,
