The Deyes High School staff and students have now moved (April) into the brand-new state-of-the-art total rebuild, during which the historic but unfit for purpose old school is currently being demolished (pictured). It has been a real credit to the Head Teacher Mrs Beany, Keir Construction, their staff and of course the 1200 students, who following meticulous planning have enabled a seemingly seamless transition whilst maintaining the highest academic standards.
However, not content with mastering the transitional challenges, they have generously and kindly reached out to be an integral part of our community.
Consequently, Dr Frank Sharp (Friends of Maghull & District – FOMD) and Phil Dillon
(Maghull Town Council Community Services Manager) have had a second meeting in which we were warmly invited to the New Deyes High School by
- Richard Caton (Executive Director of Strategic Partnerships, Lydiate Learning Trust),
- Mrs Beany (Head of School)
- Mrs J. Byrne (Learning Manager for Expressive and Performing Arts, Senior Strategic Lead for Student Leadership, Engagement and Enrichment, Lydiate Learning Trust).
They provided a tour of the new and transfixing facilities and resources, followed by an exciting meeting to discuss a huge array of mutually supportive opportunities, that will have a considerable benefit for the school and the community, and will hopefully be unveiled in the near future.
We are enormously grateful to the Deyes High School Team and their integral partners – Lydiate Learning Trust for their precious time, inspiring enthusiasm and mutual desire to share resources and aspirations for the benefit of our community.
Update:
- Demolition and Opening. Currently the wonderful old building is in the process of being completely demolished prior to refashioning the final part of the site to include further innovative facilities and landscaping. Enabling an official re-opening to be undertaken in summer 2025.
- National Award Nomination. In the meantime, the U.K.’s first and only carbon neutral school has been nominated for a national award.
- Christmas Fair. Don’t forget about the Deyes High School Christmas Fair (Saturday 7.12.24) inside the new main sports hall where already we understand there will be over 30 stalls so far!
