Please join us in thanking the 14 Cadets and Staff from 2348 Maghull Sqn who generously worked tirelessly for 90 minutes on Saturday morning (31.8.24), at The Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) Rowlands Dell Project adjacent to the Hare and Hounds Pub. Together with FOMD volunteers (Carl, Joanne pictured with squadron and Meredith, Colin, Frank not pictured) they removed more tenacious ground Ivy to access 30 years of neglect in the form of embedded litter and rubble debris, which is harmful to humans and wildlife, amounting to 7 bin bags of litter and mountains of rubble and vegetation, in the final West area of the site. Transported to the recycling centre on Saturday and Sunday.
The cadets are a real credit to themselves, the squadron and their families as they were enormously friendly, polite, organised and hard-working, in much the same way they were in previous years when supporting FOMD with tree maintenance at Old Hall Park and Hudson Primary School. They are based next to Hudson Primary School and are currently recruiting, with further information about the squadron in the link below.

More Special Thanks!
- A huge thank you to Sarah Pollard (Saxon Tree Services and a regular Saturday FOMD volunteer) who donated a large load of woodchip to the Rowlands Dell project on Monday (26.8.24) which we moved and spread (27.8.24) on the lower section of the south slope to temporarily suppress the cleared weeds and provide a hydrating biomass humus for the trees.
- Thank you to Gerry (Rowlands Dell neighbour) who kindly donated further shrubs that we planted and watered in our holding area.
This beautiful haven for wildlife has been treated as an open tip for decades, where every inch is revealing a variety of pollutants harmful to wildlife. We hope to remove all the debris this summer and commence the imminent stage II in September 2024 involving a huge programme of planting, rewilding and some hard landscaping that will be healthy for wildlife and humans, whilst ultimately preventing building on yet another perceived neglected green space.

Overall, our one-hour sessions over the last 44 consecutive weeks have resulted in collecting 258 bin bags of litter, a huge and shameful array of polluting debris and tons of tree and wall damaging Ivy, with multiple trips to the recycling centre.
We have received some wonderful feedback and are clearly seeing the difference every time we are there.
Thank you once again for your generous support of our group, you really are amazing and making such a massive difference to our community at so many levels.
Looking forward to seeing you.
