Your Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) have another one-hour session, that you can simply drop into without any commitment, to help make a positive difference to yourself and the local environment.

On Wednesday (1.5.24) at 09.30 hrs (*please check our website Events section for any changes, more info and future events, at www.fomd.co.uk). Any time you can spare will be really appreciated. We will be meeting at our Woodend Community Woodland Project (Bobby’s Wood) at the junction of Liverpool Road South and Northway, next to Bumble’s Children’s Nursery (L31 7BG)

This midweek opportunity will be focusing on weeding Maghull’s most beautiful and largest community border that we created three years ago with your help involving 500 plant donations from the local community.

Equipment needed: All you will need to bring are garden gloves and either a large or small garden fork or hoe.

Thank You for Your Kind Support in our last mid-week session (Wednesday 24.4.24) in which we achieved the following:

  • Removed two agricultural bags of weeds from the border and rockery.
  • Removed the following plants that did not survive: a small Nordman, Camellia, and a hydrangea. The latter was replaced with a huge ground covering conifer (donated by Frank).
  • Planted 100 Nerine bulbs (donated by Gerry), 12 digitalis plants (donated by Colin), three boxes of wildflower seeds (donated by a local charity shop and Frank). They have all been planted in the new children’s nature corner where 400 daffodil and tulip bulbs are currently on display (pictured).

With much gratitude to the amazing volunteers: Colin, Jill (pictured), Ros and Frank.

We hope you can help; it will really make a big difference. However, even if you cannot help out, come and have a look, you will be amazed at the natural beauty that’s been created and blossoming at its best, on your doorstep.

Many Thanks,

FOMD
