We would like to convey our many thanks for:
1. Benches.
Thank you to Maghull Town Council (particularly Alex Spencer – Amenities Manager and Cllr Patrick McKinley – MTC Council Leader) for donating and installing two fantastic benches at our Woodend Community Woodland environmental project (Bobby’s Wood, junction of Liverpool road South and Northway) on 15.5.21. Henry from the MTC Amenities Team is picture taking a well-deserved rest after the installations, whilst little Micky (from Bumbles Nursery) is also pictured as the first person to use one of the benches. It has been brilliant to receive this seating as many local visitors have repeatedly asked for this facility, to take in this newly reinvigorated haven.
2. 230m Cotswold Style Path.
Following the tireless work undertaken by Paul Pruden (Head Gardener Ashworth Hospital) and his colleagues Phil and Dave (pictured on our previous project at Stafford Moreton Way) to install the path in March, they returned to replace several of the timber boards that box the path in, that were damaged at the time, for which we are incredibly grateful. In the process of creating the path we needed to move 96t of soil, which we were able to invisibly recycle at the rear of the wood in two large hollow areas. However, a large amount of the turned soil brought several tonnes of rocks to the surface, which we collected together and have been laboriously and tenaciously removed by Paul from the MTC Amenities Team. Thanks Paul we really appreciate how difficult that task was. We have now been able to rake and re-seed the bare patches of grass over the last couple of days.
3. Official Thank You & Opening Celebration
We are so grateful for the people who have supported this project in so many ways and as a way of saying thank you (particularly for the main objective of creating an accessible path which will also act as a springboard to connect the current and future destinations) we are planning an official opening this month. This will hopefully involve the new Mayor of Sefton, a celebrity, key donors and supporters, and the neighbouring Bumbles Nursery who will be the first official people to use the path in the form of a small treasure hunt.
4. Further Help.
If you would like to help make further improvements, we would be very grateful for any donations towards our crowd funding to provide more woodland themed shrubs, bulbs, wildflowers and trees. Donations and a short introductory video can be made/seen online at: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/woodend whilst cash donations can be made at: Dover Road Post Office, The Chippy, Blue Star and Morrisons.
