A Little bit About Us
The Friends of Maghull & District (FOMD) are a small collection of local residents who care passionately about our environment and are working with Maghull Town Council who are enthusiastically sharing our vision to improve our community which is achieved by organising exciting projects and enlisting interested volunteers.
FOMD formed in 2018 and have developed into a Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2021, with a growing membership base, undertaking the dual aim of (1) undertaking environmental and social projects, and (2) supporting others in establishing similar aims.
In our short time together, we have undertaken four major projects and many smaller ones, which can be seen in the ‘projects menu’. Recently we have received unbelievable and humbling recognition from the Queen’s local representative and have been shortlisted from hundreds of nominees to be one of four finalists in the inaugural inspiring BBC Make a Difference Awards – environmental category. Something that we feel belongs to our whole community for their tremendous support and engagement at so many levels.
We believe that change is achieved in many ways but beautifully captured by Roald Dahl:
And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.Roald Dahl
